An aspect of Dialogic Portraits is that the artist takes on multiple roles, including project management; through Interpreting Exchange I have attempted to employ a less directive approach to see how it would evolve differently. I invited people to participate in working with portraiture and recognition, and/or collaborative exchange. Originally called ‘Exchange’ it soon became clear that we interpreted our exchanges differently: when I felt I was taking, the other felt I was giving, and vice versa. Because of my approach to managing the project there are many threads left bare, incomplete, possibly to be woven together at a future date.
